Marie Pelletier, Fille du Roi, was born around 1651 in Sainte-Madeleine-de-Montargis, archbishopric of Sens, in Orlianais. Daughter of François Pelletier and Michelle Lachalle. She arrived in New France in 1669 with property, or the King's dowry, estimated at 100 pounds.
During her crossing to New France, Marie was a passenger #104 aboard the ship: The Saint-Jean-Baptiste. The name of the owner of the ship was: Aubert de la Chenaye, the name of the shipowner: La Compagnie des Indes and the name of the captain: Pierre Fillye. We guess that the ship took on board 90 Filles du Roy at the port of Dieppe and that it took 11 or 12 other Filles du Roy to Larochelle before sailing towards New France and arriving in Quebec on October 2, 1665. on board from this ship, another daughter of the King bearing the name of Pelletier, Anne Pelletier known as Passavant.
We thus describe the nature of the passengers, i.e. 164 passengers including 149 girls from Normandy, 20 from LaRochelle under the direction of Mrs. Bourdon... and 12 horses. Note that it is this same lady Bourdon who took charge of Françoise Trochet known as Richard, another daughter of the King, who became the wife of Pierre Pelletier.
